About Mettur (Stanley Reservoir) Dam
Mettur Dam (Stanley Reservoir) is Tamil Nadu's largest dam. Construction began in 1925 and opened in 1934 after about nine years of work. It was built across the Kaveri where the river enters the plains, under colonial Madras Presidency irrigation works.
